My thesis...

OK, I have to write a mini-thesis for the end of march. I'm allowed write on ANYTHING.

I hate that kind of freedom.

Anyway I have to have a title and outline ready by next week, so I was thinking of tackling the very boring but easy to write about digital film revolution or perhaps the low budget thing in general.

Any websites to check out? Comments? Better titles?!

What are you talking about boring??? As a guy very into film making, and going to university taking premed prerequisits, having to write a 3500 word essay on the inhibitory effects metals have on bacterial growth, the oppertunity to write about anything even remotely interesting is grand. You know a shitload about no-budget film and have helped me with various problems on many occasions, so no budget film is a good topic on its own. If you want like history of film, how about the whole independent film revolution of the mid-90s. If that doesn't float your boat there are a million other topics out there just as interesting.

what exactly is the aim of the thesis? For example, writing the history of independant film is like a history essay, where as writing about censorship in movies more sociology and politics... see where im coming from?

Although you have said it can be about anything, what exactly are the aims of the thesis. If it really can be absolutely anything then just do whatever you are most interested in.

If only you were in a Literature course...then you could write one about the hidden message promoting segregation and racism in Oodles of Poodles by Dr Seus. I considered writing my English final on it...

What are the aims? Ya got me.

I've got a meeting with the lecturer on Monday, and I think I'll aproach him with the idea of how digital has opened up filmaking to people with no connections to the industry, ie made it more accessible.

Virtually everyone on this board shoots dv for example, and I've used dv and film. Will digital eventually replace film? Can they co-exist peacefully.

HD is coming on, but Kodak are developing better stock all the time.
